Business Built on Expertise

As we are putting a wrap on 2023 (how are we at the end of the year again so quickly!), we have been busy planning for 2024. One of my favorite people, Liz Gross (Founder & CEO, Campus Sonar), recently recommended the book The Business of Expertise by David C. Baker. We have been positioning Magellan as a business built on expertise for years as this is one of our E.P.I.C. core values (Expertise, Partnerships, Innovative, Creativity). As we move into 2024, we are going to continue to accelerate this movement to be a business of expertise.

As a branded merch agency, we push ourselves every day to provide impactful, memorable and creative solutions for our clients. This starts with the understanding of the incredibly wide landscape of the branded merch options so we can provide a full scope of products. With well over one million product options, this takes commitment.

Our expertise then extends to understanding the challenges and opportunities of our clients’ target markets. That is why we have niche areas that we service, including colleges. In 2023 alone, we helped 243 different colleges, making us one of the largest collegiate branded merch providers in the country. However, this only matters because we take what we learn from our countless interactions and use that knowledge to help others be successful.

We know that when we lean into our expertise, we are able to provide unique and creative solutions. We are often told that the ideas and strategies that we share are not common. Examples of these solutions include our Slate CRM integration, our sticker solutions (including our new Bifold Sticker Sheet Mailer featured in this e-newsletter), interactive and experiential mailings and our mailable yard sign options. Each of these arose from challenges that clients were facing and recognizing opportunities on how we could add value to others through our knowledge.

As we plan for 2024, we will be leaning harder than ever into using our expertise to provide value-added solutions for our clients. We are excited to help you continue to solve your challenges in 2024 and beyond.

Postage Permits

We are happy to mail using a client’s USPS non-profit number. Here are a few best practices for this to go smoothly. Let our team know up front on the project so we can make sure to get the information we need right away.

While our mail house does prefer to use their permit number for the mailing, we can use the client’s permit, If using their permit number, ensure there is enough postage to cover the mailing.

The information we need to in order to use a client’s nonprofit number includes the following:

Formatting the Mailing List

Our account team will advise on specific requirements for your project’s mailing list.  We generally recommend these best practices to format the mailing list:
