Culture Teams

Building and fostering a strong culture is a priority for Magellan Promotions.

Magellan’s success in building and strengthening communities starts with creating an engaged, connected, and invested Magellan team. To guide us in constantly pursuing this goal, we created Culture Teams to help us work on building a strong internal culture here at Magellan.

Celebrations and Life Events

To help team members bond and celebrate together, this team gathers staff around various holidays, work anniversaries, life events and celebrations throughout the year. Recent activities to celebrate surpassing our sales goals included an evening of candle-making, a 5-course dinner at The Chef’s Table and a Taco & Tequila food tour around Milwaukee. For summer and holiday outings, the team has enjoyed a day at a lake house, a paddle tavern on the Milwaukee River, a Brewers Game, building a mini-golf course together and an evening of ax throwing!

Engagement
This group organizes activities to further build team members’ personal relationships with each other. Staff enjoy office lunches from local restaurants, themed office perk days with treats, and one-on-one coffee breaks and lunches to get to know each other better.

Community Crew
The community crew team organizes opportunities throughout the year for the Magellan Promotions team to volunteer in the community. Last year, our team members volunteered almost 100 hours – we cleaned up our adopted section of the Honey Creek parkway, sorted toys at the Salvation Army and harvested produce at the Hunger Task Force Farm. In addition, this group plans our Giving Day, coordinates our Clothing Drive for Dottke High School’s Community Closet and identifies organizations to donate to throughout the year.
IDEA (Inclusive, Diversity, Equity, Access)

The IDEA team is committed to building a team that embraces diversity, pursues equity, and develops an inclusive environment. This group has led discussions about implicit bias and shared relevant Ted talks for the Magellan team to discuss and explore together.

Wellness

At Magellan, we are dedicated to providing a work environment that supports all dimensions of wellness. This team looks at all types of wellness including mental health, stress relief and exercise. Initiatives include sharing a “Wellness Minute” at team meetings, encouraging wellness breaks throughout the week and coordinating monthly wellness challenges. In the fall, team members recently participated in the Shorewood Hot Cider Hustle, a 5k walk/run.

Sustainability

The Sustainability team looks at the Magellan workplace through an environmentally conscious lens, including ways the Magellan office can be more eco-friendly (such as using reusable paper towels) and implement sustainable business practices. This team also focuses on providing eco-friendly product offerings for our clients and collaborating with our production partners to reduce waste. This past year, the Sustainability team coordinated a tour of the Jones Island Water Reclamation Facility, where team members learned how we can help preserve this important resource!

These Culture Teams support a strong internal culture while helping team members feel connected and invested in the mission of the organization. That connection means an even stronger drive to create solutions for our clients that help them build and strengthen community with their target audiences.

Postage Permits

We are happy to mail using a client’s USPS non-profit number. Here are a few best practices for this to go smoothly. Let our team know up front on the project so we can make sure to get the information we need right away.

While our mail house does prefer to use their permit number for the mailing, we can use the client’s permit, If using their permit number, ensure there is enough postage to cover the mailing.

The information we need to in order to use a client’s nonprofit number includes the following:

Formatting the Mailing List

Our account team will advise on specific requirements for your project’s mailing list.  We generally recommend these best practices to format the mailing list:
