I went to UW Madison and studied sociology, hoping to work with troubled youth. But as time went on and doing some volunteer work in the field, I decided it just wasn’t for me. My degree in sociology definitely did not prepare me for my chosen career path in accounting! After school, I had many different accounting positions, leading me into what I’ve been doing for the past 16 years: helping business owners focus on their business, leaving me to do the day-to-day accounting.
I came to Magellan through my personal connection with Michael at church. At the time, Michael was definitely in a growth mode, and it was time for him to outsource some of the accounting responsibilities. My role at Magellan is completing all of the daily accounting duties, so that Michael has a good snapshot of the company at any given time. This includes: accounts payable, accounts receivable, collections, sales & use tax reporting, and many other tasks the make year-end tax reporting go as smoothly as possible.
Originally from Milwaukee, five years ago my husband and I moved out to Lake Country, and we love it! We paddle board and kayak in the summer, take walks on the frozen lakes in the winter, and spend as much time as we can with our daughter who lives relatively close to us. I’m an avid reader, love to do puzzles once in a while for a little mindless activity, and I paint in acrylics whenever inspiration strikes. Oh, and we are constantly updating our home, so that brings out the weekend warrior in me!
