Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University’s Summer Package: Building Pride, Reducing Melt

In an effort to reduce melt and build deeper connections with deposited students, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University developed a unique summer package to keep students engaged and excited. The key item, a yard sign with the bold messages “That’s Right. I Made It!” and “Official Eagle,” helps students proudly display their decision to join Embry-Riddle while simultaneously acting as mini billboards for their communities. The signs not only boost excitement but also provide a unique branding opportunity as students and families share them on social media.

In addition to the yard sign, they decided to add a few additional items that could be used in different ways than the yard sign. The package included a congratulatory insert card, a silicone bracelet to wear their new school name proudly, and a sticker sheet featuring Embry-Riddle logos, airplanes, and an astronaut to display on their laptops, water bottles, and other personal items. These fun, branded items create further engagement and allow students to express their school pride all summer long.

The campaign has been very well received, with families expressing enthusiasm over the personalized touches. By combining meaningful branded merchandise with social media visibility and physical displays, Embry-Riddle strengthened its bond with incoming students and enhanced their recruitment marketing efforts through community-driven branding.
