Challenge: Create a Portable Admissions Piece that Stands Out and Lasts Beyond the Event
Hawaii Pacific University’s admissions team needed a portable, engaging piece that counselors could easily take on the road. With frequent college fairs and high school visits, carrying multiple printed materials wasn’t ideal. The goal was to streamline travel materials while creating a memorable, hands-on experience for prospective students that would remain relevant after the initial conversation.
Solution: Fuse Storytelling and Interactivity into One Cohesive Printed Piece
Hawaii Pacific University envisioned a hybrid viewbook and sticker sheet: a single piece that could combine storytelling with interactivity. Stickers continue to play a meaningful role in college recruiting, offering students a way to curate their identity, express school affinity, and feel a sense of belonging. Incorporating them into the viewbook encouraged students to keep, use, and revisit the piece long after the initial conversation.
Working to find a solution, the Magellan team helped fuse two familiar formats: a traditional printed viewbook and a sticker sheet, into a single, cohesive piece. The sticker sheet doubled as a viewbook cover, allowing stickers to be featured on both the inside front and back covers. This thoughtful integration created an interactive experience without adding bulk, resulting in a compact, travel-friendly admissions piece designed for both immediate engagement and ongoing use.
Outcome: A Memorable, Multi-Use Piece Built for On-the-Go Recruitment
The finished hybrid viewbook and sticker sheet exceeded expectations. Hawaii Pacific University’s admissions team was thrilled with the final product and its versatility in on-the-go recruitment. Counselors now have a single, engaging piece that communicates the university’s story while giving students an interactive item they’re more likely to keep and use beyond the event.
