Let Stickers Make a Big Impact: Custom Sticker Sheets Continue to be an Effective Piece of Higher Ed Marketing

In the crowded landscape of higher education marketing, the humble sticker continues to reign supreme as our top-selling branded merch year after year. But why? In an increasingly digital world, these analog touchpoints create lasting physical connections that digital communications simply cannot replicate.

Stickers transform mundane surfaces into personal expression spaces, helping you take full advantage of these walking billboards for your institution.

Unlike emails that get deleted or social posts that disappear in feeds, stickers become part of our daily environments. They’re affordable, universally appealing, and solve the critical challenge of maintaining brand presence in an attention-scarce world. When thoughtfully designed, they bridge the gap between institutional messaging and personal identity, creating emotional connections that drive engagement and foster community.

We’re excited to share three trending sticker types to help inspire your next campaign.

Build-Your-Own Mascot Stickers: Personalization Meets Pride

How do you make a university mascot personally relevant to students with diverse interests and academic focuses?

Build-your-own mascot sticker sheets transform a one-size-fits-all symbol into a personalized emblem that resonates with each student’s unique identity. Computer science majors can add laptops to their mascots, while biology students might opt for plants and microscopes, creating an instant connection between institutional pride and one’s personal academic journey.

Southern Illinois Edwardsville exemplifies this strategy’s power by having their actual mascot distribute these interactive sheets when walking around campus or during events. This creates a memorable touchpoint that extends long after the interaction as students continue to customize and display their creations. Each personalized mascot becomes a conversation starter and reinforces the student’s connection to campus life and their specific place within it.

Double-Sided Die-Cut Stickers: Form Meets Function

How do you deliver practical information in an engaging way that will resonate with students’ attention being pulled in many different directions?

Double-sided die-cut stickers solve this challenge by combining visual appeal with functional value. Shaped as university letters, mascots, or logos, these sheets stand out! They have high-quality stickers on one side, and a fully customizable and printable back side where you can include important dates, schedules, or resources.

These versatile stickers transform everyday items like water bottles, laptops, phone cases, and notebooks, into both personal expression and practical tools. This dual-purpose approach ensures students are informed of important information while extending your brand’s reach and utility.

Affinity Group Sticker Sheets: Inclusion Meets Affordability

The challenge: How do you support smaller campus communities with limited budgets while celebrating their unique identities?

Customized sticker sheets provide an accessible, affordable way for campus groups to build identity and belonging. From eSports teams with 8-bit themed stickers to specialized stickers for parents, these small-format sheets make a big impact on the audiences you design them for.

This strategy ensures that all campus communities, regardless of size or budget, can create meaningful connections and promote what they are passionate about. For students who identify strongly with affinity groups, specialized stickers often hold more emotional significance than general university branding, creating deeper engagement and loyalty both to the specific group and, by extension, to the institution that supports it.

Transforming Communication Through Tangible Engagement

The power of stickers extends far beyond their surface. They transform passive institutional communications into active engagement tools. They invite interaction, personalization, and public display in ways that traditional communications cannot.
