The College That Gave Away “Keychairs”

custom promotional products

Carthage College in Kenosha, WI knows that college grads love to display their pride for their alma mater. So the college wanted to give its alumni a way to do just that!

The alumni relations office came to us when they needed a memorable and fun item to give alumni at homecoming. After considering the options, they decided that incorporating one of the more beloved campus symbols – the famous red Adirondack chairs overlooking Lake Michigan – was perfect. Collaborating with Hannah Jorgensen, one of Magellan Promotion’s account managers, they chose to have key chains of the red chairs produced. But not just any key chain … embroidered ones to denote the high caliber reputation of the college.

John Shearer, Alumni Relations Assistant Director at Carthage College, said they posted photos of the keychain on social media before homecoming to drum up enthusiasm. The feedback was great and one student, when responding that she wanted one before homecoming, mistyped it as a “keychair,” which John thought was comically appropriate.

“The embroidered keychains were high quality and loved by the target audience,” said Shearer. “They were such a hit, we may order more.”
